The polar ice caps are melting at an alarming rate. A new study suggests that from 2005 to 2015, the surface melt of glaciers found in the Queen Elizabeth Islands rose by 900%, dumping over 30 gigatons of water into the Arctic, annually.

Warming temperature and melting ice caps contribute to rising sea levels. Experts publish that every 2.5 centimeters of sea-level rise could lead to 2.4 meters of horizontal retreat of sandy beaches. Over the past 100 years, the sea-level has risen by 4 to 8 inches. 

Climate change is real and if we don’t do anything, it could lead to deadly consequences. The burning of fossils to run our cars and produce electricity for our homes is one of the leading causes of greenhouse gas pollution.

Encouraging more efficient energy use in Alberta.

Governments around the world are now recognizing the detrimental effects of climate change. They are now developing ways to encourage their citizens to be more responsible energy users.

The government-led rebate program, Energy Efficiency Alberta,  offers rebates for EnergyStar appliances, drain water heat recovery systems, solar panels, and other renewables. Getting your rebate is done online.

How to get your rebate from Energy Efficiency Alberta.

For EnergyStar appliances rebates, simply complete this rebate application form and upload a picture of your receipt. If you lost your receipt, contact your retailer. Energy Efficiency Alberta does not provide a rebate without a valid proof of purchase.

Note: For every address, there’s a limit of two products per category.

For home improvement rebates, you need to get at least three quotes from accredited contractors. They will provide more details and an estimate of your rebate based on your home improvement installation. These registered contractors will submit the rebate application together with before and after installation photos on your behalf.
